With 100% nixtamalized maize of course! In La Reina’s factory, corn is prepared every day in the traditional way, a process called nixtamalization. It’s this, along with our attention to detail, which ensures that La Reina tortillas have the same authentic quality as those made locally in Mexico, and the only ones in Europe like it. It’s pure craftsmanship!

At La Reina we take extra special care to make sure the corn is just right before being passed through the whirring machine, just like the ones you find in Mexico. This is how we prepare the masa - without a hint of manufactured corn flour in sight. And you can tell the difference from its colour, texture, and above all, its great taste. Our fresh tortillas are made from yellow corn, and this is why they’re so soft and tender and puff up a little when you prepare them.

We use the same method to prepare the masa for the rest of our products, including our tamales.
